Azione Verde University, Amaigbo, Imo State, has received official approval from the Federal Government as one of nine newly established private universities across the country.

Azione Verde University, Amaigbo, Imo State, has received official approval from the Federal Government of Nigeria as one of nine newly established private universities across the country. The approval, granted on 14 August 2025, was issued under the Education (National Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions) Act, CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.\n\nThe Federal Government recognition clears the way for the University — an initiative of the humanitarian organisation Opera Don Bonifacio Azione Verde — to begin full academic operations from its permanent site at Amaju, Amaigbo, Nwangele Local Government Area, Imo State.\n\nThe University will run two Faculties — the Faculty of Science and Computing and the Faculty of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences — and will offer undergraduate programmes in Industrial Chemistry, Petroleum Chemistry, Physics with Electronics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Accounting, Taxation, and Economics.
